Debate Over Yosemite’s Future

Bravo to David Brower! Yes, I’m for a cease-fire. I’m sure thousands of “alumni” of summer employment in Yosemite, from the 90-day rangers to the tent maids and houseboys, will agree that although we joked about “the deeds” and made rhyming songs about the Yosemite Park and Curry Co., we knew we were the luckiest college and university students in the world to be working in that place and for those people.

Both the Park Service and the Curry Co. gave us the best summers we ever knew, between finals in May or June and term starts in August or September.
