A Guide to the Best of Southern California : ANTIQUES : The Waldo Look

Share

MUCH OF THE popularity of the “California Look” in decor can be attributed to the work of Los Angeles-based interior designer Waldo Fernandez. The elements of this casual and elegant look are regularly found in Waldo’s residential and commercial interiors: clean lines, neutral colors and over-scale furniture. But it is Fernandez’s selection of handsome accessories that are responsible for his signature design look.

Fernandez’s collection--objects of glass and stone, Mexican ceramics, East Indian ironwork and striking, antique Philippine wooden bowls, all between 100 and 250 years old--are available at his shop. Prices range from $20 for a small ceremonial tobacco bowl to $3,750 for an antique molave-wood table.
