BOSTON — “The Marriage of Figaro” set in the Trump Tower? “Don Giovanni” in Spanish Harlem? Avant garde director-playwright Peter Sellars says “Bravo!”
Sellars, conductor Craig Smith and administrator Robert Canon have announced the creation of a new company to stage the productions at the Colonial Theater in January, 1991.
The group will stage five performances of Sellars’ updated “The Marriage of Figaro,” set in the Trump Tower and conducted by Smith. The first full season will be in 1991 to 1992, according to a news release.
It will also include Sellars’ “Don Giovanni,” set in Spanish Harlem, and “Cosi fan tutte,” set in a diner on Cape Cod.
