Countywide : Stranded Fishing Boat Towed to Safety
The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three people in a fishing vessel early Monday after a propeller shaft broke down, leaving the boat disabled half a mile west of Santa Cruz Island.
None of the three people aboard the Down Under was injured, said Petty Officer Robert Beals.
The Coast Guard learned that the boat was disabled at 6 p.m. Sunday. A cutter was dispatched and it towed the boat through the night, reaching Santa Barbara at 5 a.m. Monday, Beals said.
