THOUSAND OAKS : Man Barricades Himself in Home
- Share via
A 47-year-old man whom his relatives believed to be suicidal locked himself in his Thousand Oaks home Sunday and had to be cajoled for more than an hour into opening the door, authorities said.
Lt. Bill Montijo of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said the man, whom he refused to identify, locked his family out of their home on Blue Ridge Court in the Westlake section of Thousand Oaks early Sunday afternoon.
The man’s wife called police because she believed her husband might kill himself, Montijo said. Five officers spent more than an hour coaxing the man over the telephone into unlocking the door, he said.
The man was examined by paramedics and deemed to be of sound mind, although he was upset about personal problems, Montijo said. The man was not arrested, he said.
