Rosalie Rosen of Cheviot Hills has been honored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for founding a group dedicated to helping youths by getting them involved in activities designed to “build a better America.”
Rosen, with help from the Los Angeles Swing Dance Club, founded a nonprofit, nonpolitical organization called United Citizens Committee of America. The committee’s goal is to encourage achievement through dancing, drama, music, arts and sports.
Supervisor Deane Dana, who presented Rosen with a plaque, said: “While others are asking what can be done to involve youth in positive activities, Rosalie Rosen and her members are asking, ‘What more can we do to help youngsters while building a better America?’ ”
Rosen said she hopes to persuade schools and community groups to embrace the program.
