The Chargers lost their fourth player to Plan B free agency Monday when cornerback Elliot Smith agreed to a $550,000, two-year contract with the Denver Broncos, his agent said.

Smith, a 1989 fifth-round draft choice out of Alcorn State, spent most of last season on the developmental squad before being activated before the next-to-last game.

Smith, who earned $80,000 with the Chargers last season, will receive base salaries of $180,000 this year and $230,000 in 1991 under the new contract, said his agent, Gil Thompson of Jackson, Miss. Smith also will receive signing and relocation bonuses this year that total $90,000.
