An Oxnard man who was stabbed in front of a market by two men who took his two bags of groceries was in fair condition Tuesday at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Rafael Martinez Archila, 22, was leaving a grocery store in the 2800 block of Saviers Road when two Latino men approached him, Oxnard police Lt. Stan Myers said.

One of the men demanded money. When Archila told him that he did not have any, the man grabbed him, a fight ensued and Archila was stabbed in the abdomen, Myers said.
