Biltmore Hotel to Host Food, Wine Expo

The Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles is sponsoring a two-day food and wine expo showcasing the products of Sonoma County.
The event, scheduled for April 6 and 7, is billed as “Sonoma Style: A Culinary Journey Through its Farms and Vineyards.” Included are seminars, wine tastings, cooking demonstrations and a gala dinner.
Among the three dozen Sonoma-based firms scheduled to participate are Gourmet Mushrooms Inc., Green Valley Organics, Mendocino Pasta Co., Sonoma Cheese Factory, Mayacamas Fine Foods and Hog Island Shellfish Farms.
Wineries participating include Chateau St. Jean, B. R. Cohn, Arrowood Winery, Carmenet, Glen Ellen Winery and Buena Vista.
Some of the topics covered by the seminars will be “Boutique Foods and Speciality Products,” “Organic Farming Yields Surprises” and the “Marriage of Food and Wine.”
Two extensive wine tastings also are being presented. The first is of Sonoma Chardonnays and the second is a vintage review of Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignons from 1980 to 1987.
The program concludes with a gala dinner to be prepared by Roger Pigozzi, Biltmore executive chef.
The expo is open to the public. Price is $195 per person for two days. The dinner can be purchased separately for $75.
