A 19-year-old man was fatally shot about 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of 47th Street, police said.
Hyram Kelly Gibbs Jr. and a male companion were entering the Garden View Apartments, where Gibbs lived, when they were approached by three teen-agers, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
One of the teen-agers pulled a handgun and fired several times, hitting Gibbs, who was pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m. at Mercy Hospital. His companion was not injured, Robinson said.
Police arrested a 13-year-old boy and booked him into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of murder. His two companions are being sought.
Police believe the shooting was gang-related.
