“Jake and the Fatman” is still one of the top detective shows on TV. William Conrad and Joe Penny make a great team. Conrad may be getting “portly,” but he is a consummate actor who handles his role superbly. As long as he doesn’t have to chase anybody, he’s fine. The writers will see to that.
