CAMARILLO : Planners OK Tract on Avocado Tree Site
Several acres of avocado trees would be displaced by a housing tract under a proposal approved Tuesday by the Camarillo Planning Commission.
Developer James Ticer plans to build eight single-family residences on the 2.6-acre parcel north of Las Posas Road between Loma Drive and East Loop Drive.
The project will require the removal of avocado trees and three single-family houses.
The site was annexed by the city in 1985 and had been previously approved for the construction of a 100-bed skilled nursing facility before the permit expired last month.
The commission recommended that the City Council approve the project.
The commission also directed staff members to review present standards and make recommendations to update parking requirements for day-care facilities. The change would involve facilities in commercial and office centers.
