The Region : 4 Cited for Trash Plan Work

Claremont McKenna College on Wednesday honored four government officials for their work on proposals that call for trains to haul Los Angeles County’s trash to isolated desert areas.

Receiving the awards from the college’s four research institutes were Mark Pisano, executive director of the Southern California Assn. of Governments; Harvey Holden, executive director of the San Gabriel Valley Assn. of Cities; West Covina Councilwoman Nancy Manners, and La Verne Councilman Tom Harvey.

The presentations were made during a daylong conference in Claremont, where politicians, scientists and economists discussed the future of trash disposal in Los Angeles County.
