Countywide : Boat Missing From Harbor Is Found
A 30-foot boat believed to have been stolen from Ventura Harbor was found grounded on the beach about a mile north of Port Hueneme Wednesday.
The engine of the Dos Ninas, a vessel used for repairing and inspecting oil platforms, was still warm when it was discovered, said Mike Johnson, operations manager of Martech U.S.A., which owns the boat.
Coast Guard officials believe that the boat was either stolen or broke free from its moorings and floated away, Ens. Kevin Burke said.
Johnson said he believed that it was virtually impossible for the boat to slip out of the harbor.
The rear of the boat sustained some damage, but it should be back in working condition within a week, Burke said.
A commercial salvage operation towed the boat away Wednesday morning.
