Lynn M. Harris, director of development services for the city of El Segundo, has been hired as Santa Clarita’s director of community development, city officials announced Thursday.

Harris replaces Mark Scott, who resigned the post in March after only two months on the job to become city manager of Beverly Hills. Scott began work in Beverly Hills on Monday.

Harris will be paid $79,000 a year, officials said. In El Segundo, she was responsible for planning, utilities, city maintenance and building and safety. She has a degree in business administration from Worcester State College in Massachusetts and a master’s degree in urban studies from Georgia State University in Atlanta. She will begin work April 23.
