YWCA Offers More Than Just Fitness

Share

On behalf of the Pasadena YWCA, I would like to express our appreciation for Betsy Bates’ fair and thorough article on fitness facilities in Pasadena.

It was clear from reading Ms. Bates’ article that she had researched the subject in depth, talked to the right people, and asked the kinds of questions people looking for fitness programs should be asking.

At the YWCA, we do feel we are, as your article noted, “the best-kept secret in town.” Along with our “bargain” prices we also offer a supportive environment in which people who are just beginning their exercise programs and don’t yet look like Jane Fonda or people who don’t have the latest in expensive fitness wear can participate in a variety of programs and feel comfortable.

Because the YWCA does have a long history of providing fitness and aquatics programs, many people don’t realize that we also provide many other services, and reach over 50,000 people every year.

These other programs include Carousel Day Care, Child Abuse Prevention, Rape Crisis Center, Daily Money Management for the elderly, and our Hestia House transitional shelter for homeless women and children.

We encourage your readers to learn more about these activities when they come to visit our fitness facilities.
