For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions on what to do in the garden this week from the California Assn. of Nurserymen:

* Feed established roses to increase the quantity and quality of the blooms.

* For dry spots in the garden, plant some attractive water-wise shrubs such as oleander, wild lilac and rosemary.

* If you have a container garden, be sure to watch out for their watering needs since containers tend to dry out faster than those in the ground.

* For sunny, hot locations consider geraniums that bloom in such shades as pink, rose, scarlet and white.
