Fox TV Sued Over Sound Quality: Planet Earth Television Inc. of Palm Springs, a production company, sued Fox TV Stations Inc. in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, accusing Fox of providing poor-quality sound for an earthquake benefit, “Christmas With the Stars,” aired in December. Planet Earth asked to be compensated for damage to its reputation and lost profits. It said distributors refused to handle the second portion of the show because of the bad sound associated with the first. Fox, which declined to comment on the case, provided audio-mixing and sound services for the telethon. (Filed April 2, 1990. Case No. C756918)
