A local Parent Teacher Assn. chapter has donated about $17,000 worth of gifts to Ladera Palma and Sierra Vista elementary schools.

The gifts for Ladera Palma include five computers, library books and physical education equipment. Sierra Vista will get new library books and an outdoor fitness trail, to be built on the school grounds.

In a letter to the La Habra City School District Board of Trustees, PTA co-presidents Debra Stewart and Rebecca Demke explained that the group had accumulated a budget surplus over the last few years and wanted to make a donation to “enhance the quality of our children’s educational experience.”

Supt. Rich Hermann said the gifts were selected after consultation with the faculty and administrators at each school.

“This is just wonderful,” said school board President Antonio Valle Jr. “We are very grateful for this effort.”
