Glendale Signs Pact for Senior Citizen Housing

The Glendale Housing Authority on Tuesday approved an exclusive negotiating agreement with Southern California Presbyterian Homes for construction of a 22-unit three-story senior citizen housing complex. The organization will have up to 180 days to negotiate a disposition and development pact.

The complex would be built on city-owned land at 549 and 605 E. Palmer Ave.

Last September, the Housing Authority chose Alternative Living for the Aging as the developer, but that group withdrew recently because of its executive director’s health problems.

Presbyterian Homes, which also submitted a proposal last year, agreed to take over the $1.53 million project. Annual operating costs are estimated at $76,200, and the developer has requested an annual city rent subsidy of $153,000.
