Two Residential Property Forums Slated

Carl D. Covitz, chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, will be the keynote speaker at two residential real estate conferences scheduled for next month.

The all-day sessions, approved for nine hours of Department of Real Estate (DRE) continuing education credit, and presented by Martin and Barbara Stolzoff, will be held May 14 at the Regency Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, and May 16 at the Hyatt Regency Alicante in Garden Grove.

Addressing economic issues affecting residential real estate will be Leslie Appleton-Young, vice president, economics at the California Assn. of Realtors; Alfred J. Gobar of Alfred Gobar Associates Inc., and Jack Kyser, chief economist of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.

Speaking about the entitlement processes necessary for developing housing in California will be lawyers Kenneth B. Bley of Cox, Castle & Nicholson; Maria D. Hummer of Manatt, Phelps, Rothenberg & Phillips, and Douglas R. Ring of Gold, Marks, Ring & Pepper.

Analyzing development strategies will be Richard Bobrow of Ernst & Young Real Estate Advisory Group; Andrew S. Kane of Arthur Andersen & Co.; Michael L. Meyer and Joseph M. Knott of Kenneth Leventhal & Co., and E. Winston Elton of KPMG Peat Marwick, Goodkin Real Estate Consulting Group.

Discussing development issues will be Stan Brown, the Anden Group; Bruce A. Karatz, Kaufman & Broad Homes Corp. (at the Beverly Hills session); C. Bradley Olson, Foothill Community Builders (at the Garden Grove session); Anne L. Mariucci, Del Webb Corp., and Larry Webb, Kaufman & Broad of Southern California (at Garden Grove).

George H. Rathman, Prudential Residential Services; Fred Sands, Fred Sands Realtors, and Robert E. Thomas, Century 21 of the Pacific will discuss marketing.

Analyzing equity joint ventures will be Jeffrey M. Gault, Home Savings of America; and Terry E. Tornek, Haseko (California) Inc.

The real estate finance panel will include George A. Smith, George Smith/Grubb & Ellis Financial Services; Bob Adelizzi, HomeFed Corp.
