Irish Art Lovers Are Smiling: Ireland will open a national Museum of Modern Art in March to coincide with Dublin’s year as Cultural Capital of Europe. Museum exhibits, including works presented by Australia’s Sir Sidney Nolan, an artist of Irish ancestry, will be housed in the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, Dublin’s finest 17th-Century building, which has been restored. Director of the new museum will be Declan McGonagle, founder of the Orchard Gallery in the divided Northern Ireland city of Londonderry.
