For Sale: Guitar W/Teeth Marks: The guitar used by rock legend Jimi Hendrix to screech out “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the 1969 Woodstock Festival will be auctioned Wednesday at Sotheby’s in London. The Fender Stratocaster is expected to fetch up to $114,000. Hendrix, who played guitars upside down because he was left-handed, also used his teeth to play and was well-known for destroying guitars as a spectacular finale, smashing them to bits or setting them on fire with lighter fluid. Hendrix died in 1970 from a drug overdose.
