Share

The Ojai City Council has allocated more than $79,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds to six groups.

The Area Housing Authority was given $41,822 to loan to low- and moderate-income residents so they can renovate their homes. A family of four must earn less than 80% of the county’s median annual income of $45,200 to qualify for the program, said Elaine Willman, an administrative aide for the city. Landlords who rent to low- or moderate-income residents may also apply for the funds.

The authority also got $10,000 for a counseling service that offers information on low-cost rentals and makes referrals to help resolve landlord-tenant disputes.

Interface Inc., which runs an Oxnard shelter for abused children, received $2,500.
