American Mobile Systems to Sell Off 54 Channels
American Mobile Systems Inc., a Woodland Hills operator of mobile-radio systems, said it agreed to sell 54 of its mobile-radio channels in Baltimore, Washington and Phoenix to Dispatch Communications for about $4.7 million. American Mobile said it expects to report a profit of approximately $3 million from the sale in the second half of its current fiscal year ending June 30.
The company also said it completed the acquisition of 20 mobile-radio channels in the Orlando, Fla., area and entered into a joint venture agreement on 67 channels in northern Florida and southeast Georgia. The investments in these channels totaled about $2.7 million, it said.
