NAMES IN THE NEWS : Cosby Writers, Feminine Touch
Is Theo Huxtable a wimp?
Bill Cosby told TV Guide that more female writers have been added to “The Cosby Show” staff not only “to deal with female topics, but to get the female viewpoint about the way men act.”
Such as seen in his television son, Theo, played by Malcolm-Jamal Warner.
“What we are going to try to do with the boy is have him realize his existence in terms of making a commitment to the person he’s in love with,” Cosby said in an interview in the magazine’s Saturday issue.
“There is a playground out there; he’s in love but he still wants to play,” he said. “It is a problem area for a lot of males--and a rich area for us to deal with.”
The result? “It is going to end up making a lot of men feel Theo’s a wimp,” Cosby said.
