‘Amber’ Too Blue for Ohio: A panel of Ohio residents has ruled that the X-rated video “Amber Pays the Rent” violates community standards in what is believed to be the first test of a Supreme Court ruling on obscenity in the community instead of the courtroom. More than two-thirds of the 45-member citizens’ panel from Piqua, a community of 20,000, said the video appealed to prurient interests and offended their personal standards. As a result, “Amber” and the entire adult section of Home Video Ventures of Piqua will be removed, officials said. The movie depicts the lives of several female roommates who pay their bills by way of sexual favors.
