An “upscale jewelry mart” has won city approval to locate in the Pavilion Plaza shopping center in Garden Grove.
The City Council, acting as the redevelopment agency, voted to allow B&B; Jewelry Mart to open at the southwest corner of Chapman Avenue and Brookhurst Street. The approval was necessary because the shopping center was part of a redevelopment project.
According to the staff report, jewelry marts consist of various display booths rented to independent merchants. Each of the independently owned booth operations would carry its own line of jewelry. B&B;, operated by Brian Matz and Bruce Sperling, plans to have about 25 merchants.
Sale projections for the first year are estimated at $1.2 million, which means about $12,000 for Garden Grove in sales tax revenue.
