Man Found Slain in Van Nuys Alley
A 43-year-old Culver City man was found shot to death in a Van Nuys alley, and investigators had no clues to the motive for the slaying, Los Angeles police reported Wednesday.
Police were called to an alley behind the 6600 block of Hayvenhurst Avenue at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday after residents reported hearing gunshots, Lt. Warren Knowles said. They found James Henry Atkinson sprawled on the ground behind an apartment building.
Atkinson had been shot in the upper body. Police have been unable to determine what he was doing in the area or why he was shot.
