Rams, Raiders Get Schedules for 1990

Share

The Rams will open their 1990 season at Green Bay Sept. 9 and at Tampa Bay Sept. 16, but it’s the last six weeks that may pose a problem.

Four of the Rams’ final six games will be on the road, including the last two, at Atlanta and at New Orleans. The Rams also will play defending Super Bowl champion San Francisco twice in a four-week span (Nov. 25 and Dec. 17) and open December against Cleveland and New Orleans.

In all, the Rams will play seven games against teams that reached last year’s playoffs and three others against teams (Green Bay and New Orleans twice) that went 10-6 but didn’t qualify. The Rams also play three Monday night games--at Pittsburgh (Oct. 29), San Francisco (Dec. 17) and at New Orleans (Dec. 31)--and receive their bye during the season’s fourth week.

Ram Coach John Robinson said quarterback Chuck Long is being flown in for a tryout this week.

The Raiders, 8-8 in 1989, will open the season against the defending AFC champion Denver Broncos at the Coliseum on Sept. 9.

Coach Art Shell’s club will play all of its home games on Sunday afternoons, but they will play two Monday night games, one Sunday night game and one Saturday afternoon game on the road.

The Raiders get their bye on Oct. 28, a week after playing at San Diego and a week before playing at Kansas City.
