THE SIDELINES : Drug Care Ordered for Pryor
Former world junior-welterweight champion Aaron Pryor was ordered today to undergo two years of drug treatment and rehabilitation.
Hamilton County Municipal Judge Mark P. Painter approved a motion by Pryor’s attorney, Hebert Haas, that Pryor be given treatment for drug dependency in lieu of conviction of a drug paraphernalia charge.
Pryor, who lives in suburban Forest Park, was arrested Sept. 4 after Cincinnati police found a metal pipe used for smoking cocaine when his vehicle was stopped.
Pryor, 33, testified he was in a Cleveland hospital for drug treatment for 28 days and was released March 17. He said he has had follow-up treatment at the hospital, and admitted he was drug-dependent.
Pryor entered a no-contest plea. Painter stayed a decision on guilt. He said Pryor could face 90 days in jail if he has a problem during the next two years.
