The cowboy music trio Riders in the Sky have signed up to make public service announcements and personal appearances on behalf of the National Park Service.

The Grand Ole Opry group plans to perform concerts in national parks and to discuss their support of the parks on their public radio series, “Riders Radio Theatre,” which airs on 100 stations.

The show, formerly taped in Nashville, has moved to Cincinnati.

The three dress as cowboys and sing songs such as “Cool Water” and “Tumbling Tumbleweed.” They also do comedy skits.

“They’ll help us get a serious message across in a lighthearted way,” said James Ridenour, director of the National Park Service.
