Pomona Valley Physician Honored
Dr. Jeffery P. Phelan of Arcadia, a perinatologist on the medical staff at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, has received three scientific awards for his work.
Phelan received the Society Award from the Society of Perinatal Obstetricians, first prize for scientific research from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and was co-recipient of the Fellows Awards from the Armed Forces for a paper on fetal heart rate in early labor.
Perinatologists are obstetricians who specialize in caring for women at high risk during their pregnancies.
