Detroit Red Wing Bob Probert’s cocaine importation conviction has been upheld by the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati.

A three-judge panel of the court upheld U.S. District Judge Patrick J. Duggan’s refusal to dismiss the felony charge against the NHL player.

Probert was arrested March 2, 1989, trying to smuggle about 14 grams of cocaine in his underwear into Detroit from his native Windsor, Ontario. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment and three years’ probation.
