It’s the end of the road for “Driving Miss Daisy.”

The Pulitzer prize-winning play about the relationship between an elderly white woman and her black chauffeur will close June 24 after an off-Broadway run of 1,219 performances, David Powers, a spokesman for the show, said Monday.

The comedy, written by Alfred Uhry and which now stars Frances Sternhagen and Arthur French, is off-Broadway’s fourth-longest-running play.

The movie version, with Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman, won the Academy Award for best picture in March. Freeman was in the play’s original cast, along with Dana Ivey who played Miss Daisy. Miss Tandy won a best actress Oscar for her screen performance.
