A Thousand Oaks man caught and held two men at gunpoint after they tried twice to burglarize his truck, police said.

David Jancovich, 20, and Ahmed Selim, 18, both of Thousand Oaks, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, said Lt. Kelli McIlvain of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

Don Ciaciuch, the owner of the truck, became alarmed when he heard his dogs barking Monday night in the 700 block of Rushing Creek Place, McIlvain said.

Ciaciuch’s son peered out the front window and noticed that the door on the truck parked in their driveway was open, McIlvain said.

Ciaciuch ran out and found one of the men inside the truck. During the confrontation, the man ran down the street and hopped into a white vehicle, McIlvain said.

Ciaciuch called the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, and deputies began searching the area for the burglars.

Meanwhile, Ciaciuch, armed with a handgun, caught two men who allegedly returned to the scene and held them until deputies arrived, McIlvain said.

No property had been removed from Ciaciuch’s truck, McIlvain said.

Selim and Jancovich were being held Tuesday in the Main Jail in Ventura in lieu of $10,000 bail each.
