Stephen Clark Will Replace Michael Tuck

KGTV (Channel 10) weekend anchorman Stephen Clark will replace Michael Tuck as the co-anchor of the top-rated 5 p.m. newscast, the station announced Wednesday, ending months of speculation.

The station still has not named a replacement for Tuck’s popular “Perspective” commentaries, which air weeknights during the 11 o’clock newscasts.

Clark, who has been with Channel 10 since 1988, will begin anchoring the 6:30 p.m. newscast in June. He will take over the 5 p.m. newscast when Tuck leaves.

Tuck announced in November that he was leaving to take an anchor-commentator job with KCBS-TV (Channel 2) in Los Angeles. His contract here expires in September, but there is speculation he might leave earlier now that a replacement has been found.

“I get the feeling Channel 2 would like me to start as soon as possible,” Tuck said. “But right now my commitment is to Channel 10 and I’ll stay as long as they need me.”

Before joining Channel 10, Clark worked as an anchor and reporter at KCNC-TV in Denver. His resume also lists stints in Wichita, Kan., and Colorado Springs and Greeley, Colo. He is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado.

Clark will be paired with Carol LeBeau at 5 p.m. and Kimberly Hunt for the 6:30 newscast.

Channel 10’s 5 p.m. newscast has been No. 1 or close to it in the ratings through most of the past three years, with Tuck in the anchor role.
