Pact to Buy Watergate Hotel Reported: Trusthouse Forte Hotels Inc., operator of the Travelodge chain, announced it has assumed management of the Watergate Hotel in Washington and has agreed to buy the multistory structure. Financial terms of the planned acquisition of the hotel and a health club, owned by the British Coal Board pension fund, were not disclosed. Trusthouse Forte is the U.S. subsidiary of Trusthouse Forte PLC, a $4-billion British hotel and catering company. The subsidiary is headquartered in El Cajon, which is 25 miles east of San Diego.
