Health Emphasis School to Open
A $34-million, five-story magnet school for high school students interested in becoming health professionals is scheduled to open in September near the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center in northeast Los Angeles.
Leticia Quezada, board member of the Los Angeles Unified School District, said that the Lincoln Medical Magnet High School--the first new high school built in the district in 17 years, and the first ever to be built with private funds--will accommodate 2,000 students.
Financed by bonds, it will replace the existing 300-student medical magnet school with a facility boasting 60 classrooms and labs, a gymnasium, library, lecture hall and cafeteria.
For information, phone the school at (213) 222-0959.
