Heist in SoHo Gallery: Hooded thieves smashed a huge plate glass window in one of SoHo’s largest galleries Thursday and snatched about $1 million in art and antiquities in a lighting-fast heist, police and the owner said. Kenneth Nahan, owner of the Nahan Gallery, said detectives told him the thieves had police scanners and fled in two cars moments before police arrived, leading them on a 90 m.p.h. chase that ended when the thieves lost the pursuing officers. Nahan said three etchings by French artist Max Papart and Roman and Egyptian antiquities from the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC were taken.
