COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Lasagna Joins Elite 40-40 Club
Steve Lasagna became a 40-40 man on Thursday, driving in his 40th run and scoring his 40th run to lead Antelope Valley College to an 11-5 Foothill Conference victory over visiting Rio Hondo.
Lasagna delivered a run-scoring single in a seven-run sixth inning and scored later in the inning. Lasagna, batting .398 with 11 home runs, was three for five.
With the score tied, 5-5, in the sixth, Joel Sweitzer hit a two-run pinch single to give Antelope Valley (11-26, 6-15 in conference play) a permanent lead.

NAIA District 3 Championships--Cal Lutheran’s doubles team of Joey Dooley and Kirsten Kanuch advanced to today’s semifinals with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win over Susan Woodling and Dee Dee Walker of Pt. Loma Nazarene.
MEN’S GOLF
NCAA Division II District 8 championships--Cal State Northridge shot a two-round total of 613 at Wilcox Oaks Country Club in Redding to take a one-stroke lead over Sacramento State.
Northridge junior Bob Burns is second overall after shooting a five-over par 149.
