URBINO, Italy — Prince Charles’ artwork is on display in surroundings that could humble a heir to the British throne.
Charles attended an invitation-only unveiling Sunday of 57 of his watercolors at the Raphael Academy, in the building where the Renaissance artist was born in 1483.
“I still can’t believe that my amateur sketching will go on display in Raphael’s house,” Charles said. “I only hope the great master doesn’t turn in his grave.”
Captured in the prince’s drawings are, among other images, the Tuscan countryside, a sandy scene in Saudi Arabia and places in Scotland and Hong Kong.
The exhibit runs through June 14.
