WEEKEND BOX OFFICE : ‘Woman,’ ‘Turtles’ Still Battling It Out

Once again, Touchstone Pictures’ “Pretty Woman” romanced the weekend box office--taking the No. 1 spot, with ticket sales of $6.8 million. In second place: New Line Cinema’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” with $5.3 million. The Turtles have now cracked the $100-million club. Among new entries, Paramount Pictures’ “Tales From the Darkside: The Movie,” scared up $5 million--for third place. Another new entry, the 20th Century Fox comedy, “Short Time,” starring Dabney Coleman, earned $1.2 million for 10th place.

* In limited release at 13 theaters, Cinecom’s “Last Exit to Brooklyn”--based on the controversial 1964 novel--had ticket sales of $186,489 for a high per-screen average of $14,345. MGM/UA’s “Daddy’s Dyin’ . . . Who’s Got the Will?” had ticket sales of $313,844 at 150 theaters.
