Azusa Pacific University

Azusa Pacific University conferred degrees on 509 graduates Saturday, with 254 receiving a B.A., 49 receiving a B.S. and 206 receiving master’s degrees. Dr. Richard Halverson, chaplain of the U.S. Senate, delivered the keynote address . An honorary doctor of humane letters degree was awarded to Edward Dayton, vice president at large, World Vision USA.

Master’s College

Master’s College held its 62nd commencement ceremony on Saturday. Degrees were confered on 153 graduates, with 139 receiving a B.A. and 14 receiving a B.S. Gregory Ivanovich Komendant, president of the Union of Evangelical Christian-Baptists in the Soviet Union, delivered the keynote speech and was given an honorary doctor of divinity degree.

Looking Ahead

Otis Arts Institute of Parsons School of Design will feature conceptual artist John Baldessari as its keynote commencement speaker at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

USC will hold its 107th spring graduation ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday in USC’s Alumni Memorial Park. Robert F. Erburu, chairman and chief executive officer of Times Mirror Co., will deliver the address.

California Institute of the Arts will hold its commencement at 2 p.m. Friday in the Graduation Courtyard. CalArts President Steven D. Lavin will speak.

Claremont Graduate School will hold its 63rd annual commencement at 3 p.m. Saturday in Bridges Auditorium of the Claremont Colleges. Adm. Bobby Inman, former director of the National Security Agency, will deliver the keynote address. Desmond Tutu, Anglican archbishop of Cape Town, will be awarded the President’s Medal.

Loyola Marymount University commencement ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Sunken Gardens on the Westchester campus. Paul Westhead, Loyola’s basketball coach, will deliver the keynote address.

Mount St. Mary’s College will hold its commencement at 2 p.m. Saturday on Chapel Terrace on the Chalon Campus. Anita DeFrantz, president of the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles, will give the address.

Claremont McKenna College will feature syndicated columnist William F. Buckley as the keynote speaker at 2 p.m. Sunday at McKenna College.

Harvey Mudd College will hold its commencement at 4 p.m. Sunday on the Braun Liquidambar Mall. Keynote speaker will be Sandra Kurtzig, chief executive officer, chairwoman and president of ASK Computer Systems Inc.

Pitzer College commencement will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday on the Pellissier Mall at Pitzer College. Playwright David Hwang will address the graduates.

Pomona College will hold its 97th annual commencement at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Bridges Auditorium. Karen Horn, chairwoman and chief executive officer of Bank One, Cleveland, will be the featured speaker. Ceremonies are not open to the public.

Scripps College commencement will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday on Elm Tree Lawn on the Scripps campus. Natasha Josefowitz, adjunct professor in the College of Health and Human Services at San Diego State, will be the keynote speaker.
