Luke Skyywalker Loses His Name: A Los Angeles federal judge has temporarily barred the lead singer of controversial rap group 2 Live Crew from using the name Luke Skyywalker, finding that director George Lucas is the “trademark” owner of the name, which was based on the hero in the “Star Wars” films. The order by U.S. District Judge James Ideman will remain in effect pending the outcome of a lawsuit in the case. Ideman also found that the music group’s use of sexually explicit lyrics could “dilute the distinctive quality” of the Lucas trademark.
