Poverty Factor in Immigration

In a world filled with irony, hypocrisy and empty promises, it was no surprise to read yet another emotional exhortation concerning one of our many social ills--this time illegal immigration--from one who would abolish perhaps the most effective remedy.

Most of the problems we face, both as a nation and as a planet, can’t be solved by compassion and/or technology alone because they are the result of, or are exacerbated by, rapid population growth. Until the world’s religions accept their responsibility to promote viable family size through sex education and workable birth control, attempts to find truly effective solutions to our problems will continue to be exercises in futility.
