A field of eight headed by Dominant Dancer, Nasers Pride and Tasteful T.V. has been entered in the $100,000-added Senorita Breeders’ Cup Stakes Saturday at Hollywood Park.

Dominant Dancer will be ridden by David Flores and was assigned 119 pounds for the 22nd running of the one-mile race for 3-year-old fillies on Hollywood Park’s turf course.

Nasers Pride will be ridden by Laffit Pincay and was assigned 119 pounds. Tasteful T.V. will be ridden by Martin Pedroza and also was assigned 119 pounds.

Others entered were For My Mom, who will be ridden by Patrick Valenzuela and was assigned 117 pounds; She’s A V.P., Ray Sibille, 117 pounds; Nijinsky’s Lover, Russell Baze, 117 pounds; Brought to Mind, Alex Solis, 114 pounds, and Bimbo, Rafael Meza, 114 pounds.

Dominant Dancer won the Grade I Oak Leaf at Santa Anita last October. The 3-year-old Moscow Ballet filly last year had compiled five victories and two seconds from eight starts before the Hollywood Futurity in December, where she finished eighth.

Tasteful T.V. has earned nearly $130,000 with three victories in eight career starts.

For My Mom has won three of her five starts, with one second and one third-place finish. She comes into the Senorita off a three-quarter length score over Dominant Dancer in the Miss California at Golden Gate Fields.

Legendary jockey Bill Shoemaker, still anticipating his first start as a trainer of Thoroughbreds, has now targeted May 18 as the date for his debut.

Shoemaker, 58, has assembled a stable of eight older horses and 13 2-year-olds. Four of the older horses stabled at 65 South have European backgrounds.

Of the four European horses a 3-year-old filly named Star Child still figures to be the first runner saddled by Shoemaker. Bred in the United States and trained in England, Star Child has been entered to run on at least one occasion, but the race did not fill.

Shoemaker seems to be taking this waiting-game approach in stride.

“No, it doesn’t bother me,” he remarked. “This is all part of the game.”

Owned by Madeline Jason, Star Child has been pointed toward a race on May 18.

“You do what you have to do, and that’s it,” said Shoemaker. “We’ll see what comes up.”

Reluctant Guest won the race last year in the stakes record-equaling time of 1:34.

The Pimlico Special will be simulcast at Hollywood Park on Saturday, and will be featured between the first and second race on the card. Hollywood Park riders Gary Stevens, Chris McCarron and Eddie Delahoussaye have accepted mounts.
