How to Get to and Around West Point

What to do: The West Point Visitor Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; closed New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Admission free.

West Point Tours operates frequent bus tours of the academy. Departures April through November are from the Visitor Center every 20 minutes from 9:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m.

From December through March, departures are at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.; Sundays at 2 p.m. Costs are $3 for adults; $2 for children 12 and under.

The West Point Museum is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. When the Army football team plays at home, the museum opens at 9:30 a.m.

Where to eat: Meals and lodging are available in the surrounding area or at the Hotel Thayer, a government-owned facility. For reservations or information, write to Hotel Thayer, West Point, N.Y. 10996.
