Discount Vouchers to Jerusalem Sights

If you plan to visit Jerusalem before the end of July, look into a new ticket that offers discounts on admissions to a broad range of cultural and entertainment attractions and on shopping as well.

Overall, the three-section ticket provides 18 discount vouchers for use within Jerusalem.

One part of the ticket provides admission to two museums, the new Tower of David Museum and the Israel Museum. Admission to the museums is about $5.50.

The ticket is being sponsored by two of the main attractions: the Tower of David Museum of the History of Jerusalem, and the Israel Museum, which features the Dead Sea Scrolls among its exhibits.

The Tower of David Museum, based in the Citadel, offers sound and light shows as well as a history of the city, from the Canaanite period to present day.

The ticket, which costs about $11, offers discounts of up to 60% off regular admission prices.

Another part of the ticket offers admissions to any three of 25 Jerusalem museums and attractions. Among the options are Biblical Zoo, Rockefeller Museum, Second Temple Model at the Holyland Hotel, Museum of Islamic Art, Chagall Windows at the Hadassah Medical Center, Zedekiah Caves/Roman Plaza and the Natural History Museum.

Discount vouchers for 13 theaters, movies and shops are included in yet another portion of the ticket. Among them are the Kahn Theater, Jerusalem Theater, lunch at the Holyland Hotel, the Israel Film Archives/Cinematheque, Jerusalem Center for Performing Art, Pargod Jazz Theater, Stage Theater and the museum shops at the Tower of David and Israel museums.

Each ticket comes with an English/Hebrew brochure that includes a map of Jerusalem and information about sightseeing locations, descriptions, hours of operation, access routes, addresses and telephone numbers.

These tickets have to be bought in Jerusalem, and are available at government tourist offices and many hotels as well as at sightseeing attractions. Ticket agencies and tour operators in Jerusalem also sell the tickets.
