Insider Trading Trial Begins: A printer and an ex-stockbroker knew that they were violating the law when they used advance information from Business Week’s “Inside Wall Street” to buy stocks, a government lawyer said Thursday at the start of an insider-trading suit. The Securities and Exchange Commission’s civil suit is against William Jackson, who worked where the magazine is printed, and Brian Callahan, who was with Prudential-Bache Securities when he allegedly used tips supplied by his co-defendant. Both deny guilt in the suit, which seeks restitution and damages. (Filed Jan. 9, 1990. Case No. 90-0124)
